The thing I like the most is
that the macros and scripts are EXTREMELY versatile and much more feature rich than
I initially thought. Everytime I think "I wish I could do this..." I
just look in your help and find a tip or a note on how to do exactly
that.
Our product works on any Operating System and communicates with multiple
types of databases. Testing this matrix of platforms vs. databases is
too much manual work. I use your software to run sniff tests on this
matrix. One set for entering data to verify that the website populates
the database correctly. Another set to extract the info from the webpage
to verify that it pulls all the data from the database correctly. This
way I just setup the database and platform combination of my choice and
run the internet macro scripts. Also, since iMacros has a COM
layer (the Enterprise Interface), I have the scripts integrated with our Test authoring suite
(Mercury Interactive's Test Director). So I am able to see pass and fail
values of the internet macro tests in the same place as all my other
non-IM test cases. This was very important for us to consider before
purchasing IM.

We use the iMacros software in order to facilitate the automated downloading of telecom invoices for our clients from many many different vendors (like Bell, Rogers, AT&T..etc). Because of iMacros, we don't need any special treatment from phone vendors as we simply use the online interface they designed for their users. to handle 'setup tables'. (multiple
pages requiring similar information
that take a long time to do manually).
I was very happy with the performance.
All I had to do was record a script
of me entering data on one page.
Save the recording. Then, edit
the saved 'script' to have different
data. Then, I could run it again
and it was so much faster than
entering all of those pages manually.
I also used it to create some
test data, which required data
entry into several different Peoplesoft
'Components' (or menu groups).

than 1/2 hour. The website we download reports from does not function
well with IE or with Firefox, but iMacros Browser has no problems at
all. Very impressive.
I worried a bit about getting a good ROI on the product at first,
because of the price, but iMacros has easily saved me many times the cost in

We have automated iOpus iMacros with Java using IBM's
SWT framework. The ability to
control IIM through the scripting
interface is something we could
not find with any other product
(at any price). This unique ability
allowed us to create a distributed
testing environment where we send
messages with embedded iOpus macros
and data-sources that are executed
on the targeted client machine.
This has been used to automate
our build verification test,
which runs three times a week
saving us three hours/week.
Regression testing has been
automated, saving us approximately
eight hours of an engineer’s
time per run. The macros have
been created in a modular fashion
and it is easy to create new
test “scenarios”
by re-using existing macros.
We have found iOpus

we use the iMacros software
is for record searches. We run
a criminal background investigation
firm and there are many websites
that offer criminal searches online.
Before hand, we had to have at
least three people doing searches

| I run a membership site for a select group of webmasters. We're always on
the lookout for tools and services that can automate certain tasks of
creating web sites, registering domains, market research, and loads of
other things.
To be honest, I came across the IM site some time back but never associated
it with automating repetitive tasks via a browser - so at the time I added
it to my "To Review Later" bookmarks folder with the intention of reviewing
at some point when I had time (which of course never happens!)
A few weeks back I needed to thoroughly test a new web app I'd had written
and remembered IM - since I started using it I realised it could do so much
more than just automate testing.
I tried it out and was very impressed, so recommended it to my membership
base - who felt pretty much the same way.
To give you some positive feedback it's actually meant I can reduce the
amount of work I outsource now (as a few hours writing an IM macro now
takes care of a lot of the work), and has greatly reduced the amount of
time I personally spend performing repetitive tasks online.
For me personally, it's saved me 10 - 15 hours a week of my own time, and
several $1000 per month in outsourcing expenses. An excellent bit of software.

am a very satisfied user of iMacros which I downloaded some
months ago. Just to expand
a little - I am a very competent
PC and Internet user but have/had
absolutely no experience of HTML
or macros prior to using your
product. I admit it did take me
several days to figure out some
basic things. Like for example
I just could not figure out anywhere
that explained simply how the
'loop' system worked so for a
while it was very tedious as I
would write a routine and then
copy and paste it 100 times changing
one variable by hand so it would
loop through from 1 to 100 etc.
Then eventually I got
the hang of doing it properly
and that saved me hours!
What a powerful program when you
do get the hang of it.
I downloaded the trial version
first, but within two days I could
see it was exactly what I needed
so I took the full version.

As a student I found iMacros Browser extremely useful to automate the process of submitting different values to a web site and capture the results obtained in an Excel sheet. It has a very low or hardly any learning curve which makes the user write and run an automated script within minutes of reading the tutorials provided. The automated script would be just over 3-4 lines and works wonderfully well for over 30,000 iterations. I did look at the other testing tools before considering this and all of them seemed to either have a big learning curve or were heavy weight in terms of installation even if i did get a temporary academic lisence, I would gladly recommend iMacros Browser for simplistic, yet powerful automated testing.

| The application I have been working on is for a live environment in a retail environment.
The way the company works is that they have their own SQL server database in the store that holds the customer details, and now the company has decided to also offer interest free credit through a 3rd parties web site.
Therefore I use your software to read the customer details from the Company's SQL server database and populate the Credit Company's web-site with all the Customer details, such as name, address, phone etc. The process works by our SQL application calling a VB script that calls your browser, and populating the first few pages of
the credit web-site, there is then some staff interaction, and then staff member runs another iMacro, from the playlist on the left hand list, which populates some more web screens then there is some more interaction etc. iMacros works very well for our Company.

We use Postini which is a very popular Spam/Virus Filtering company. Your software allows us to add and remove customers automatically
through Postini's Web Interface. Everytime a customer is added or
deleted from our Radius Server an E-mail is generated, from this e-mail
the username is pulled using Outlook's Macro feature and then passed to
iOpus iMacros to work it's magic and add or remove the customer from the Postini
Admin page. Additionally I send myself a screen pop so I know it's doing
it's job.

Imacros is a great tool, I keep learning new capabilities and developing
more uses for it.
The Enterprise edition is well worth the money because of the time it saves
learning, developing and testing the script. Once you have developed scripts
you can deploy them and edit them on other computers using other versions of
the software (such as the player), so you incur the higher cost of the
Enterprise edition license only once.
The real power of Imacros is being able to automate its use by calling it
from another application, such as Visual Basic in Excel.
Response to technical inquiries is prompt, consistent, and well grounded. Tech support personnel are evidently users of their own software and very
familiar with its capabilities.
There are good, simple examples showing new users how to get started. While
you can be up and running relatively quickly, Imacros has a lot of
capability and flexibility which allow adaptation for different
applications. These nuances can take a while to learn. For this, the
on-line references and forums are very useful and easy to search.

| We
are just beginning to integrate IIM into our
analysis and testing routines, but two uses
of the software are interesting to note.
The first use of note is the ability
to record the basics of a testing procedure
I want my testers to follow. I
do this using the plugin, then I edit and
touch up the #Current.iim, using the same
editor that I wrote the web application
in.
Then it's just a matter of copying and
pasting the macro right into the testing
procedure - the testers copy and paste it
into THEIR #Current.iim and get to the part
of the testing where they need to be attentive
much quicker for having played the macro.
It is amazing how quickly this
can all be done, and how much effort is
saved not having to convert mouse
clicks into human-readable directions.
The second use of note is the ability
to quickly create a comprehensive load test.
Basically, I write a template to get a
web application to write both the macro
itself and the batch file to run the macro
in tray mode - one server creating the means
to test another. I can modify this template
to perform other tests and/or send it to
my other developers to run it from their
servers.
Internally, the template queries the web
application's database for the logon information
of those users who most stress out that
part of the system we are testing. This
usually comes down to those who return the
biggest record sets.
Next, things like the path to iimpro.exe
and the address of the server being tested
are computed in order to write to file a
macro that has these hard-coded into it
along with the logon variables that allow
it to be reused in the batch file.
Next, the batch file path is computed and
the logon info query is looped through in
order to write to file a batch file which
calls iimpro.exe, once for each logon, with
the proper command line switches.
On the server being tested, I usually watch
the CPU Usage History in the Windows Task
Manager or run FileMon.
Writing a batch file in a way that
runs the macro from the tray in every conceivable
way provides an unobtrusive way to really
hammer your server where it counts.
But these two uses barely scratch the surface!
There are so many other things we want to
do with IIM, involving extracting data,
response time measurement, and much more.

needs to have a display template and input
template uploaded through cold fusion software.
We have over 2,000 sections. This
took about 2 and a half days to complete,
even if it was a small change in one of the

had a home grown web automation software
before this product once it stopped working
I began looking for something better since
