iOpus Internet Macros - Instant Web Automation, Web Testing and Data Extraction
Image Recognition Plugin

The Image Recognition Plugin is the world's first technology that allows you to automate and test websites using images instead of cumbersome X/Y coordinates: Now you can tell iMacros how a button looks like and iMacros can find it on the page. Even when the button has moved or if it has changed color.

The Image Recognition Plugin is the ultimate tool for automating and testing web sites that use non-HTML technologies such as Flash applets, Java applets, Movie Player Applets, ActiveX controls or any other technology. Since the plugin relies only on the images that are rendered in the browser, it works indepently of the underlying technology. Its the worlds first technology to test Flash applets inside the browser!

The Image Recognition Plug-In is part of the iMacros PRO and Scripting Editions. It adds two new, extremly powerful commands to the PRO and Scripting Edition.

How does it work?

The diagram shows you the three images that are required to automate input into a flash (or java) based chat applet. To automate a Flash applet you only need to take a screenshot of the applet, and then mark the input box (where you want to send the text) and the input button that IIM needs to click.

As a third (optional) step you can also supply an image of the text. IIM can use this image to verify that the applet reacted to correctly to the input sequence.

If you add STOPWATCH commands to such a macro, it can be used to measure the performance of the FLASH (or Java) applet.

The macro for this sample application consits only of three lines:

'Fill text into input box
IMAGECLICK IMAGE=inputbox.bmp CONFIDENCE=95 CONTENT=Hello<SP>Heidelberg
'Click "send" button
IMAGECLICK IMAGE=sendbutton.bmp CONFIDENCE=95
'Now test if the applet works => look for text "Heidelberg" in applet window
IMAGESEARCH IMAGE=text.bmp CONFIDENCE=95
