Software Tester / Quality Engineer (m/w)

Ipswitch/iOpus develops and markets innovative IT software that is easy to learn and use. More than 100 million people worldwide use Ipswitch software.

At AlertFox/iOpus (a part of Ipswitch Inc), we’re building an alerting and web performance monitoring system to help IT operations groups detect and respond to issues. Startups, Fortune 500 companies, and everything in between rely on us to provide them with critical information on the performance of their web applications. The Software Quality Assurance Engineer is responsible for testing commercial software products and web-based applications (SaaS) in a fast paced environment. Ideal candidate must have experience with HTML and know at least one programming or Scripting language.

Responsibilities and Essential Duties:

• Design and develop test cases that enable verification of product requirements
• Execute test cases while meeting project deadlines and deliverables
• Enter detailed defects in the defect tracking system
• Review and give feedback on product requirements and design
• Perform peer reviews of test plans, test cases and test results
• Maintain and create the test environments
• Research and answer escalated customer issues from Technical Support regarding software defects, as needed
• Actively support customers during Technical Preview Programs
• Routinely isolate the root cause of a defect when applicable

Education and/or Experience:

• 3 to 5 years of experience testing commercial software applications or equivalent
• Experience with virtual testing environments such as VirtualBox, VMware and MS Hyper-V a plus
• B.S. in or pursuing a degree engineering discipline, Computer Science or equivalent experience
• Extra consideration given for certifications: CCNET, CCNA, CSTE, CSQA etc.
  Scripting experience
• Strong written and oral English skills, German language skills a plus.

Working location

The position will be in our German office near Heidelberg. Work from home and part-time (Teilzeit) options available.

Software Engineer - C# ASP.Net/Javascript Web Developer

We need help developing new features for our fast growing number of AlertFox and iMacros users. We’ve got interesting technical problems in spades and are looking for a new colleague to help us add the features our customers are clamoring for.

Key Responsibilities will include:
• Implement new AlertFox and iMacros features in C#, C++ and/or Javascript
• Communicate with our users to understand their requirements
• Work with the team to invent and design new features and products.

Requirements
• Good knowledge of least one programming or scripting language required
• Degree in computer science, physics, engineering or equivalent qualifications
• Efficient English is a must. Knowledge of German will be considered an asset.

We work with C#, C++, Javascript, MS SQL Server, and ASP.NET and host our applications in the Amazon Cloud (AWS). Knowledge of any of these tools will be considered an asset. But we don’t hire based on experience with a handful of tools. Instead, we want smart, capable, and experienced people who can learn our tools (and suggest new ones!) as needed.

Working location
Our office is located in Walldorf near Heidelberg. Working location can also be your home ("telecommuting") using Internet based communication (Skype, Salesforce, …). This position is available as full-time or part-time position. Working hours are flexible according to your own schedule.
